The DeLorean Sports Car was built in Belfast, North Ireland in 1981 and 1982. Late production 1982 cars were titled as 1983 models. Total productions seems to have been around 10,000 cars. All cars came from the factory in Stainless Steel only, although some were painted by Dealers after sales declined the second year.

The DeLorean is equipped with a PRV6 engine, which was an alloy V-6 jointly designed by Peugot, Renault, and Volvo (hence the name).
